Senaste budet ang. Akrotiri:
The restoration of the shelter of the archaeological site of Akrotiri in Santorini is rapidly progressing. The architect for the project and consultant of the Archaeological Society Mr Nikos Fintikakis said to the newsletter "Paratiritirio" that 70% recovery of the shelter has already been achieved, including the section that had been damaged. He also said that according to the time schedule of the contractorsʼ consortium, full restoration of the shelter is expected by December 31, 2010 and completion of the project in its entirety is expected in May 2011. |

Informationen till hotellägarna på Santorini är att Akrotiri förväntas öppna för turister i maj, dock inget bestämt datum ännu...
Tyvärr har erfarenheten visat att tidsramarna inte alltid håller så det kanske är för tidigt att boka in något besök!! Jag fortsätter att hålla koll efter mer info! |

Mina grekiska vänner på Santorini sa idag att den officiella versionen är att Akrotiriutgrävningarna skall öppna för turister i vår, men dom garderar sig med att i Grekland är INGENTING säkert förrän det verkligen inträffat...
Jag har frågat ansvarig arkitekt, men han ville inte svara, o utgrävningsansvariga i Aten ville inte heller svara, så något osäkert känns det! |

Sevärdhet och sevärdhet??
Hustrun tvingade mig in på Akrotiri vid ett tillfälle. Ute sken solen och det var varmt och skönt. Väl inne i Akrotiriområdet var det kallt och kargt. Jag kunde genast dra paralleller med en sönderbombad cementfabrik... Sten, sten och åter sten. Lägg därtill en överentuastisk guide som beskrev varje sten och skärva som vore det himmelrikets portar. Tak över hela området, kallt och fuktigt. Må så vara att området är en arkeologisk sensation, men på mig imponerade det icke. Arne |

Ja, jag har lite svårt att säga emot dig där Arne, eftersom jag ännu inte varit i Akrotiri - det har ju varit stängt när jag varit på Santorini!
Men jag inbillar mig i alla fall att det är sevärt om man som jag är intresserad av historiska/arkeologiska platser, inklusive keramik, målningar,mm. |

Goda vänner var med sin tonårsdotter på Kreta och åkte till Knossos.Föräldrarna entusiastiska,dottern satte sig på en sten såg sig omkring och sa,jaaa har man sett en ruin så har man sett alla.Den tösen är idag fyrtio+ själv mamma och hon har inte ändrat uppfattnig.Delar nog helt din åsikt Arne.
Detta skojar vi om varje gång vi kommer till någon form av utgrävning eller annan sevärdhet.Har blivit ett bevingat uttryck i vår familj.Jag tycker det är spännande att känna historiens vingslag,dock min man följer inte alltid med. Monica

Härliga bilder Arne! Tack!! Jag som är ganska intresserad av historia tycker det är fullkomligt fantastiskt att kunna vandra omkring i en flertusenårig stad.
Akrotiri liksom Pompeji kan verkligen sätta fantasin i rörelse! (Även om det är lite skrämmande att se hur en högstående civilisation krossats av naturkrafter... man kan ju lätt dra paralleller till vad som utspelar sig i t ex Japan...) |

Petros Nomikos kulturcentrum håller fast vid den tidigare versionen att arbetet BLIR klart i vår, men säger att Grekiska kulturdepartementet dock ännu ej officiellt kungjort färdigställandet... Svårt att veta vad man skall tro! By 31 December, possibly earlier, the shelter of prehistoric Akrotiri site would be restored, while the May 31, 2011 the project will be complete delivered to archaeologists in order to organize the space to be opened to the public. Over the metal roof will be installed as insulation and in accordance with the original design, the roof surface will be planted greenery. According to Mr. Fintikakis, the remaining work is the installation of the ceiling, the windows on the perimeter doors and windows, and walkways (inside and outside).
