Goda vänner var med sin tonårsdotter på Kreta och åkte till Knossos.Föräldrarna entusiastiska,dottern satte sig på en sten såg sig omkring och sa,jaaa har man sett en ruin så har man sett alla.Den tösen är idag fyrtio+ själv mamma och hon har inte ändrat uppfattnig.Delar nog helt din åsikt Arne.
Detta skojar vi om varje gång vi kommer till någon form av utgrävning eller annan sevärdhet.Har blivit ett bevingat uttryck i vår familj.Jag tycker det är spännande att känna historiens vingslag,dock min man följer inte alltid med. Monica

Härliga bilder Arne! Tack!! Jag som är ganska intresserad av historia tycker det är fullkomligt fantastiskt att kunna vandra omkring i en flertusenårig stad.
Akrotiri liksom Pompeji kan verkligen sätta fantasin i rörelse! (Även om det är lite skrämmande att se hur en högstående civilisation krossats av naturkrafter... man kan ju lätt dra paralleller till vad som utspelar sig i t ex Japan...) |

Petros Nomikos kulturcentrum håller fast vid den tidigare versionen att arbetet BLIR klart i vår, men säger att Grekiska kulturdepartementet dock ännu ej officiellt kungjort färdigställandet... Over the metal roof will be installed as insulation and in accordance with the original design, the roof surface will be planted greenery. According to Mr. Fintikakis, the remaining work is the installation of the ceiling, the windows on the perimeter doors and windows, and walkways (inside and outside). The biological treatment is already completed and the intermediate attic that was placed above the ancient to protect them is now removed. Senaste beskedet från vänner på Santorini är att själva byggnationen nu är avslutad o endast "kringarbetet" återstår. Det finns en svag förhoppning att kunna bli klara till slutet av oktober, men då är ju turistsäsongen slut så troligtvis blir det väl nästa vår...

Är det någon Kalimerian som hört något mer om Akrotiriutgrävningen??
Jag har kontaktat Grekiska Kulturministeriet samt Grekiska Nationella TuristOrganisationen för att kolla om dom kan säga något om öppningsdatum/öppethållande, men ännu inga svar... |

Är själv urusel på grekiska, så personal från från Grekiska statens turistbyrå hjälpte mig att ringa direkt till Akrotiriutgrävningen. Tyvärr var svaret lika svävande som tidigare, att man inte vet om/när(?) det kommer att öppnas i sommar heller...

Ja, krisen har säkerligen inte underlättat! Projektet har bekostats med EU-medel, men i o med att det tog 6 år att färdigställa taket, mot planerade 6 månader har väl miljarderna rullat iväg...
Svenska Institutet i Aten berättade idag att dom pratat med personal på plats. Man anser nu att byggnationen är avslutad men att "formaliteter" återstår, o troligen öppnas Akrotiri INTE för turister i sommar heller! |

Jag pratade med min vän igår kväll på Santorini. På min fråga när/om Akrotiriutgrävningarna skall öppnas svarade hon. Att ingen information finns tillgänglig om detta. Då ser det ju verkligen trist ut.
Artemia som hon heter känner för det mesta till vad som sker på ön då hon jobbar som fotograf och även på den lokala radiostationen på ön. Personligen sa hon även att hon tvivlade på att det händer något i Akrotiri i år. Yeasou |

Fick idag svaret från grekiska Kulturministeriet ang öppningsdatum, men blev inte så värst mycket klokare... Är inte så bra på grekiska, men det verkar ju snarast vara en hänvisning till något beslutsprotokoll(?) Det var väl 23/9 2005 som taket rasade in? :
